Over 70 people from St. Katharine’s and Thorpe Bay Lodge turned up to the Arlington Rooms to celebrate the Bard’s (Robert Burns Born on the 25th January 1759) Birthday commonly known as Burns Night. After receiving a welcome glass of fizz, everyone sat down to enjoy a 5-course dinner in the comfortable Arlington Rooms with complimentary wine.
The address to the Haggis was given by W.Bro Pat McCallum with his usual finesse after parading in with the respective reigning Master’s of the Lodges, W.Bro Richard Dyer (St. Katharine’s), W.Bro Paul Bates (Thorpe Bay) as well as the Secretary W.Bro Gordon Goodall. The Chieftan Haggis was slain and toasted with the obligatory dram of Whisky.
Everyone then enjoyed dancing and a little more drinking til 1.00am with the wonderful live band Eclipse.
At the end of the evening a healthy £1000 was raised.
