History

St. Katharine's Lodge No.5376 was consecrated on the 12th October 1932. It meets at the Rochford Masonic Hall, South Street, Rochford, Essex, on the 1st Saturdays of October, December, February, March and April.

St. Katharine's Lodge was named after the local parish church on Canvey Island, However, the Lodge is spelt "Katharine's" and the church "Katherine's" though whether this was intentional it is unknown.

Originally meeting at the Haystack Hotel til the outbreak of the Second World War, it then moved to one of its founders - George Chambers, purpose built Lodge of Instruction room at his home "Maisonwyck". Dining was held at the Monico where the brethren were entertained by many artists including, Frankie Howard accompanied by Madame Vera Roper!

This continued til 1951 when after negotiation with Charrington a new home was found at the Admiral Jellicoe. This continued for over thirty years til they became a founding lodge of the Rochford Masonic Hall.
